Oh dear family members who knew and loved Mary so much through the good years---so many of them---ane the last few challenging years---I don't know how to tell you how much it meant to me to be her colleague and to see how she never gave up on children---NEVER! I also know her humility in that she never saw herslf as the hero that all of the rest of us in the English Departmant at THS did. She was absolutely the best that public education aspires to be. And, I LOVED the privilege of teaching both Ryan and Cody. She was so proud of you both but also so modest about your achievements so as to not intimidate others. I am so sad. As an English teacher, I admit that I truly do not know what to say. I just love you all and the gift that Mary gave to all of us---in Temple as well as universally. Mary Adams

Ms. Leshikar was my freshman English teacher at Taylor High School in 1967, and my neighbor in the New Bern community north of Thrall. She was funny, bright, and enthusiastic. Her teaching certainly made an impression: I am now a member of the English faculty at Ohio State University.
