Rusty died on Tuesday, June 30th at the Temple V.A. where he received excellent care.

Rusty was born on January 30, 1934 in Snook, Texas to Chester and Albina (Kubena) Williams. He was raised and attended schools in Caldwell. He married Carole Mako on January 8, 1993 and they shared 16 years of wonderful marriage. He enlisted in the Army at the age of 17 in 1951 and served his country during the Korean War, where he received the Purple Heart in addition to numerous other commendations. He was discharged in 1953 after recovering from his combat injuries. He then went on to Radiology Technology school. He worked in the X-Ray department at Scott and White in Temple for 31 years where he retired from in 1996. He was very involved in numerous volunteer organizations. He was past president of the Sunset Lions Club, worked with the Children's Miracle Network, coached little league baseball and soccer, worked with the Pioneers Group at Scott and White and many other organizations. He was always there willing and able to help out, especially when it came to children.

Those that knew Rusty will treasure his unbelievable story telling ability and the fact that he never met a stranger. One of his biggest attributes in life was bringing joy to people. He was bound and determined to put a smile on your face, whether you wanted to or not. His love and way with children was something to very special. He was without a doubt the greatest grandpa you could ask for. He served that role not only to his family but to the many kids he came in contact with through his volunteer work.

Pallbearers will be grandsons Brady Johnson, Brandon Johnson, Dale Young, William Allen, Austen Barnes, Shawn Allen and Cameron Williams.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Ralph and Lester Williams and two sisters, Hazel Bartay and Inez Westerman and stepson, Bobby Allen.
